And I Will Offer Flowers - To Mother - May 3, 2001

And I will offer flowers from the garden of my soul,

Blooms of fragrant tenderness, thy radiance to extol,

Creations from the occult store of earth's vast treasury

Light-filled forms that move the heart to deep humility,

Incense-laden cups of gold and nectar-bearing bells

And violets of modesty from purple shaded dells,

Majestic-scented peonies, the gilded iris' hues,

The crimson rose of sacrifice that all thy love imbues.

I'll gather the aromatic leaves of angelonia

And adoration's blossoms from the tree of cordia.

The gentleness of lathyrus, the nodding columbine,

The boldness of celosia, the passion-flower's sign.

I may not reach the galaxies where heaven's stars are born

But my spirit's prayer accompanies the perfumes of the morn,

And here on earth is joy enough beneath the fruitful trees

And grasses moved in oneness mid the slightest summer breeze.

And phlox and ferns from fairy-swards lit by an inner sun,

Placing these before Thy feet in surrender scarce begun.

For life must blossom as a flower giving without demand,

Allow the soul within to grow, the spirit to expand

And gather timeless beauty from the fragrant fields of earth

The blessings of sky and sun-drenched days in the time of our rebirth,

The symbols of Nature's aspiration climbing towards the light

And man the aspirer waking now to Supramental sight.
